Founded in 1959 in Chicago, Illinois as a hearing aid manufacturer, Fidelity Electronics were know for making chess computers from 1976. The company was known to be working on the early chess computer game "Chess Challenger" (based on their series of dedicated chess computers of the same name) for the ColecoVision during 1983, before the game became vapourware. Fidelity Electronics was purchased by the German electronics manufacturer Hegener & Glaser in 1989 before Chess Challenger was completed or released.
