Founded by a team of four in Eugene, Oregon, GarageGames began their work on the Torque Game Engine, releasing it to independent game developers with an affordable license in 2001. The company would focus on the digital distribution of video games in the years that followed, with their own storefront as early as 2003. As a development studio, GarageGames is known for creating the Marble Blast series. They released their final title in 2010. From this point on, the company experienced intermittent acquisitions while maintaining the Torque Game Engine, eventually open sourcing it in 2012.
