Game has a fun, pixel art style similar to Children of Morta and really nice music. However, I feel like a lot of these indie action roguelikes don't quite nail the combat loop, which is the most important part. The combat is floaty - literally - your basic attack has you hover while you do it, which doesn't doesn't feel very fluid or dynamic. Additionally, you have to cycle through spells. You have four spells you can mix and match throughout a run, however these spells are mapped to a "wheel" that rotates through the spell list after each use. I think the idea of the mechanic is to develop a rotation of spells you can cast, but in practice, I never quite know where I was in my spell rotation, so I would often use them improperly missing enemies entirely. It's interesting I suppose, but it didn't feel fun to think I was on a "knives" spell that throws knives forward to only instead get a "bomb" spell that drops a bomb below... which is not where the enemies are because I thought I was on "knives".
Fine game if you REALLY vibe with the ascetics, but there are certainly more satisfying roguelikes out there.
