The combat is decent, but not overly interesting. I find just myself just mashing buttons after awhile. The expacs do expand on it, but you only can really access those at the end of the game. Funnily enough, this makes new game+ the optimal way to play. The story and quest design are just top notch. The narrative is what absolutely makes this game. It does have a very slow start, but once you get into it, I find myself engrossed in a almost unhealthy way.
