Summary

Summary pulled directly from Steam - Some text may only be applicable to Steam platform

The Keio 3000 series was a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by Keio Corporation on the Keio Inokashira Line in Japan from 1962 until 2011. The 3000 series was the first Keio rolling stock to use completely stainless-steel body construction.

The first train began commercial operation on December 28, 1962. The door is a 1,200 mm single-sided door, the power generation braking, forced ventilation resistors, window splits, etc. are the same as those of the old 1000 series, and the body width is 2,700 mm, which is narrower than the subsequent train. It appeared in a 4-car train with an MT ratio of 2M2T. The narrow body type was the 1st and 2nd train set. Later 3rd sets above were built with a wider body of 100mm.

The two early narrow-body 3000 series sets were resold to the Hokuriku Railroad in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, where they became two-car 8800 series sets 8801 to 8802.
